Coil & Convection covers countertop ovens in three types: air fryer toaster ovens, countertop convection ovens, and traditional toaster ovens. Its tagline states the posture in a line — "We explain the mechanism and show the arithmetic" — and it treats what actually separates a $60 toaster oven from a $500 one as the question worth answering: what the published specifications say, and what a machine costs to run.

Its defining decision is stated on every page: it has not cooked in the ovens it writes about, and it says so — "no 'years of experience' here, no 'in our test kitchen', no 'after months of use'." There is no lab and no test kitchen. What it does instead is gather every published specification for a machine in one place, cite each figure to the manufacturer's manual or listing, and work out the running cost with the arithmetic shown — watts, hours, and an electricity rate a reader can swap for their own (it uses the US average residential rate of 18.83¢ per kWh, from the EIA, April 2026). Where a maker doesn't publish a figure it prints "not published" rather than guessing, and when wattage isn't published it prints no running cost at all — "never a borrowed or guessed one." Rankings follow a published rubric, and every pick carries a "skip this if" line. Prices pull live from Amazon carrying the date they were checked and disappear once the data is more than 48 hours old rather than going stale.

That refusal to claim a test it never ran is exactly how Type 5 Marketing operates. Written by Stephen V., positioned honestly as an enthusiast genuinely interested in what separates a cheap oven from an expensive one rather than a lab, a kitchen, or a panel of experts it invented, it leads with the published spec, does the running-cost arithmetic in public, and admits the work it hasn't done — the standard we hold across every property in the portfolio.
