About Ice & Cedar

Ice & Cedar covers recovery hardware in three areas: cold plunge — tubs, chillers, temperature guidance, and DIY builds; sauna — heaters, barrel and outdoor units, and guidance on temperature and duration; and contrast therapy, the protocols that combine the two. Around those sit the setup guides a buyer actually needs before committing to an appliance this size: electrical, sizing, and cost.

Its editorial premise is a piece of arithmetic nobody else was doing. These are appliances that draw real current and run a real power bill, and the numbers that matter are mostly absent from the listings — of every listing the brand surveyed, exactly one published its amperage. So Ice & Cedar computes the values manufacturers omit, electrical load and running cost among them, and publishes them in open tables. Where a figure genuinely isn't available it writes "Not published" in the cell rather than filling it with a guess. Prices pull from Amazon's API carrying the date they were verified, and once the data passes 48 hours it disappears on its own and the call-to-action falls back to checking the price at the retailer instead of showing a number that has quietly gone stale.

What makes it a Type 5 Marketing brand is the sentence it is willing to write about itself: it owns none of the units on the site and has tested none of them, and it says so plainly on the homepage and the about page. As the brand puts it, every competitor worth ranking against leads with a count of products tested; its own count would be zero. Rather than paper over that, it competes on the work it has actually done — the derived numbers, the honest blanks. It is funded by disclosed Amazon Associates commissions, and it does not sell placement, does not accept free product, and the ranking is not for sale. Declining to claim work you haven't done, then earning the reader's trust some other way, is the standard we hold across the portfolio.
