Its posture is set in a line — "the best leather wallets, honestly reviewed," independent, spec-driven, and with no sponsored placements — and its recurring question is the one the marketing skips: whether a wallet is real full-grain leather or the cheap stuff dressed up to look like it.

Its defining decision is stated where most of the category bluffs: "We do not run a testing lab. And we're not going to write 'in our testing' as though we do" — there is no lab, and it says so rather than implying one. What it does instead is compile the manufacturers' published specs and material documentation, do the cost-to-own math on real leather versus the cheap alternative, and cite its sources so a reader can check the work.
