Geared Gaming covers gaming hardware in three areas: handhelds and the accessories around them (Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go), gaming audio from headsets to in-ear monitors, and best-value peripherals — the mice, keyboards, and monitors worth buying at a set budget. Its editorial habits are unusual for the category: every pick carries a "Don't buy this if…" section, and it explains the mechanism behind a recommendation rather than listing products, from why footsteps are hard to localize to why a fast SD card isn't fast in a Steam Deck.

Two commitments define it. Prices are pulled from Amazon's Product Advertising API on a daily schedule and stamped with the date they were fetched; once the data is more than 48 hours old the number is hidden entirely and the call-to-action falls back to checking the price at the retailer, rather than showing a figure that has quietly rotted. And it does not run a testing lab — it says so on the about page, the methodology page, and the FAQ. The phrases "we tested," "hands-on," and "in our testing" are banned across the site because they would be false. What it does instead is research published specifications as claims rather than facts, cite third-party lab measurements by name and link, and write "we could not verify this" where a claim cannot be substantiated.

That last habit is the clearest expression of how Type 5 Marketing operates. The brand is funded solely by disclosed Amazon Associates links — every other retailer it names earns it nothing and is labelled as such — and it will tell a reader the cheap option is good enough even when the expensive one pays more. Declining to claim work you haven't done, and turning down the more profitable recommendation, is the standard we hold across the portfolio.
