Visor & Vent covers one thing and covers it closely: motorcycle helmets, across the four categories a rider actually shops — full-face, modular and flip-up, adventure and dual-sport, and Bluetooth and comms-ready lids. Its hero states the whole method in a line — "Helmets, sorted by the certification on the shell" — over the rule that every helmet is ranked by the DOT, ECE 22.06, Snell, and SHARP marks it actually carries, "not the badge on the box."

Its defining decision is printed where most of the category bluffs: the count of helmets it claims to have crash-tested is zero. "We do not crash-test helmets," it says, "and we won't write 'in our testing' as though we do" — there is no crash lab and no drop-test rig, so instead it compiles the manufacturers' published specs, cites other people's lab data (including SHARP's independent star ratings) by name, and states plainly when it couldn't verify something. Each helmet is scored out of ten on five named metrics — certification, weight from the published grams, quiet and refinement, fit and versatility, and value at the live price — with the overall figure stated as their mean and labelled as documented-research judgement rather than a lab measurement. Prices come from the Amazon Product Advertising API refreshed daily and stamped with the date they were fetched, and once the data is more than 48 hours old the number disappears and the button falls back to "Check price on Amazon."

That refusal to claim a test it never ran is exactly how Type 5 Marketing operates. The brand is funded by the Amazon Associates program — a small commission at no extra cost to the reader — and it says plainly that a commission has never changed a ranking, noting that budget helmets regularly out-certify the flagships that pay it more and get ranked above them anyway.
