Rep & Recovery covers six categories a lifter or runner actually shops: massage guns, compression boots, foam rollers, recovery wearables, home gym equipment, and cold and heat — cold plunge tubs and sauna blankets. Its hero states the posture in three words — "Train hard. Recover honest." — over a promise of independent buying guides built on "real specs, the cost-to-run math nobody else publishes, live prices."

Its defining decision is stated where most of the category bluffs: "Everyone in this category says they tested twenty units. We have not lab-tested any — we compile the published specs, pull the numbers from the manuals, and do the math." The site prints three zeros to make that concrete — "0 units we claim to have lab-tested," "0 sponsored placements accepted," and "0 free products accepted for coverage." What it does instead is publish a reproducible method: every product is scored out of 10 against a small set of criteria chosen for its category — power, noise, ergonomics, battery, and value for massage guns; pressure and zones, presets, comfort, and value for compression systems; sensors and accuracy, battery, subscription reality, and total cost of ownership for wearables — with the overall score shown as the mean of those metrics to one decimal place and the sub-scores published on every card, "so you can see what the number is made of." Every spec is traced to a primary source, and prices are pulled live from the Amazon Product API and stamped with the date fetched; once the data is more than 48 hours old the number disappears and the button falls back to "Check price on Amazon."

That refusal to claim a test it never ran is exactly how Type 5 Marketing operates. The brand is funded by affiliate commissions, mostly through the Amazon Associates program, at no extra cost to the reader, and it says that funding "never changes a verdict — when the cheaper product is the better buy, we link to it anyway." It declines free products and payment for coverage, and will not "invent credentials, testing labs, or an 'expert panel' that does not exist." Written by Stephen V., positioned honestly as "an enthusiast who is genuinely into this stuff" and explicitly "not a certified trainer, not a physiotherapist, not a lab," it leads with the published spec, prints an honest downside and a "don't buy this if" on every pick, and admits the work it hasn't done — the standard we hold across every property in the portfolio.
